Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington is seeking a Patient Financial Specialist in Yakima, WA. The role focuses on educating patients about financial responsibility, verifying insurance, and coordinating payments while coordinating with clinical staff to meet patient needs.

The position requires high school or GED and experience in hospital or medical office billing; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm with comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Excellent written, oral communication and customer service skills.

• Experience in hospital or medical office billing or patient accounts.

Responsibilities

• Pre admission/admission insurance verification, pre-certification, screening for financial counseling and eligibility determination.
• Assists in obtaining or validating pre-certification, referrals, and authorization.
• Calculates and collects patient liability according to verification of insurance benefits and expected reimbursement.
• Explains and provides financial policies and available resources for alternative payment arrangements to patients and their families.
• Demonstrates proactive interpersonal communications skills while dealing with patient concerns via calls, emails, and in-person conversations.
• Optimizes patient flow by using effective customer service/communication with internal and external customers, care team, and management.
• Cross-trained to support multiple patient and payer types (ABA/OP, Commercial/MCO).
• Back up for posting for Yakima and Tri-Cities billing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Location: Yakima - West Suite C - Yakima, WA, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: High School or GED, Salary Range: $21.00 - $25.75Hourly, Travel Percentage: None, Job Shift: Day, Position Summary: The Patient Financial Specialist coordinates a smooth patient flow process by educating patients on their financial responsibility and options. The Patient Financial Specialist must be able to multi-task and reprioritize in response to fluctuations in volume. This position requires being self-directed, well organized and exhibiting team oriented skills with the ability and desire to educate and advocate for patients and their families. The Patient Financial Specialist will have the ability to build rapport with a wide variety of individuals including clinical staff in order to meet the patient's needs.

Responsibilities

Physical Requirements

Education

Experience

• Hospital or Business office experience or patients accounts, required

Wage Range

$21.00-$25.75 per hour
