Job summary

Adventist HealthCare's Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, MD seeks an experienced Patient Financial Advisor II to support billing, eligibility, and patient payment options on-site.

This 40-hour, day-shift role provides direct patient counseling, coordination with care managers, and opportunities to assist with charitable applications within a faith-based health system.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in a healthcare financial environment.
• At least 1 year establishing eligibility and/or payment authorization.
• Strong knowledge of government payor rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of TPLs, WC, and other payment sources and liabilities.
• High School Graduate or equivalent; some college preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports the current care plan and throughput within the acute medical center on-site.
• Supports financial processes, including authorizations, verifications, and financial options for patients.
• Tracks available service days.
• Works with CM to ensure patients’ financial obligations are met.
• Coordinates with CM to support discharge planning.
• Coordinates and collaborates with the current eligibility vendor.
• Provides direct patient financial counseling if appropriate.
• Assists patients in completing charitable applications.
• Works with limited direct supervision.
• Can complete all PFA I duties if required.
