Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3 years medical business office experience with insurance procedures and patient interaction.

Responsibilities

• Ensures insurance, demographic, and eligibility information is accurate in the system.
• Performs insurance verification on all third-party payers; obtains pre-authorization for services and surgeries.
• Re-verifies benefits and obtains authorization after treatment plan is discussed; ensures required signatures.
• Uses the Summary of Patient Reimbursement and Liability form and obtains approvals as needed.
• Performs financial counseling on patient obligations, billing practices and payment arrangements.
• Documents financial counseling and forwards to Billing Office.
• Assists patients in obtaining financial assistance and outside help; completes forms.
• Collects co-pays, deductible and other out-of-pocket amounts at visit.
• Maintains manuals, logs and required documentation; protects patient confidentiality.
