Job summary

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute is seeking a Patient Financial Navigator to monitor and collect patients' financial responsibilities, keep insurance benefits up to date in OncoEMR and Centricity, and review services for diagnosis and coverage. You will perform daily Managed Care and Patient Financial Navigator tasks to support patients’ billing needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in healthcare, clinical or business office preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of medical terminology and insurance processes.

• Ability to calculate and collect patient financial responsibility and co-pays.

Responsibilities

We are committed to providing world‑class cancer care, recognized by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) with a national Clinical Trials Participation Award. FCS offers patients access to more clinical trials than any private oncology practice in Florida, providing ground‑breaking therapies in a community setting and allowing participation in national clinical research studies. In the past five years, the majority of new cancer drugs approved for use in the U.S. were studied in clinical trials with FCS participation prior to approval. Through our partnership with Sarah Cannon, we are one of the largest clinical research organizations in the United States, often leading the nation in initiating research studies and offering new therapies to patients.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for monitoring and collecting the financial responsibilities of our patients.
• The Patient Financial Navigator must keep patients’ insurance benefits up to date in OncoEMR and Centricity and view the patients’ services for diagnosis and insurance coverage appropriateness.
• Also performs the daily tasks of Managed Care and Patient Financial Navigator.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience working in a healthcare field, preferably in a clinical setting or business office is required.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills needed.
• Insurance knowledge requirements including:
• Understanding of medical terminology
• Managed care authorization process
• ICD10 codes
• Collection experience
• Ability to calculate and collect patients’ responsibility and insurance co‑pay/coinsurance.
