Job summary

Presbyterian Santa Fe Medical Center is seeking a Patient Financial Advocate to screen hospital and medical group accounts, identify residual balances, and assist high-deductible and self-pay patients. You will explain expected out-of-pocket costs and guide eligibility for charity care, Medicaid, and other resources.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the billing team for accurate charges, resolving disputed balances, and applying CARES behaviors to educate patients and advocate for

Qualifications

• Three to five years of experience in healthcare field with significant MD and patient interaction required.
• Physician office or hospital experience preferred.
• Prior billing office and collection experience preferred.
• Must be able to pass Epic competencies within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Calculate patient out of pocket expectation and alert patient to that balance before visit.
• Contact patient to set expectation for payment during the visit.
• Counsel patients on financial responsibilities and assist with payment plans.
• Research disputed balances and resubmit claims to payors when needed.
• Support clinic/hospital operations and communicate with management on account activity.
