Job summary

Nebraska Cancer Specialists is seeking a Patient Financial Advocate to help patients navigate treatment costs and financial assistance options. You will meet one-on-one with patients to discuss costs, review eligibility for programs, and coordinate with the precertification team to identify potential aid.

The role emphasizes accurate record-keeping, hardship applications, and setting up repayment plans, with a Monday–Friday schedule and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• One year of Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance billing experience preferred.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimum supervision.
• Previous experience in a medical office is preferred.
• High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Meet with new treatment patients who are self-pay to review cost of care and assistance options.
• Collaborate with precertification team to identify patients for co-pay cards, foundations or drug replacements.
• Maintain an accurate record of all patients receiving financial assistance.
• Assist patients in completing hardship applications and apply policy for hardship/write-off.
• Discuss outstanding balances with patients and determine repayment plans.
