Texas Health Resources is seeking a Financial Counselor at the Denton campus to guide patients through insurance benefits, payment options, and available financial assistance programs. The role emphasizes compassionate financial discussions and accurate documentation in the EHR.

The position requires interaction with multiple hospital departments, ensuring timely pre-authorizations, and helping minimize patients' financial barriers while delivering excellent patient service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year collections experience preferred; 2 years hospital admissions experience preferred.
• CHAA or CPI certifications preferred / CPI training required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in understanding insurance benefits and financial responsibilities.
• Provide cost estimates, set up payment plans, and help with financial assistance applications.
• Explain coverage options and work with external agencies to secure funding when needed.
• Verify insurance benefits and ensure pre-authorization before services.
• Manage Financial Clearance Work queues and document patient demographic and financial data in the EHR.
• Support revenue cycle by minimizing financial barriers and aiding Medicaid applications.
