Job summary

CGH Medical Center is seeking a Financial Counselor to provide patient financial counseling and act as the link between the organization and third-party vendors to ensure correct billing criteria and guidelines are followed.

Responsibilities include establishing payment arrangements, coordinating with MRA personnel, and liaising with collection agencies to resolve accounts in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Professional certification in a national revenue cycle association preferred.
• Experience in collections and/or accounts receivable preferred.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills required.
• Computer literacy including software application use required.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with the patient and/or guarantor to establish payment arrangements.
• Communicates with MRA personnel to ensure accounts are handled correctly and adjustments are made.
• Serves as liaison with outside collection agencies for questions on accounts.
• Processes suit authorizations for the collection agency.
• Helps resolve past due accounts prior to referral to bad debt.
• Communicates with attorneys to ensure liability accounts are paid timely.
• Reviews accounts to ensure proper adjustments for Medicare and Medicaid.
• Reviews newborn accounts to obtain accurate billing information from guarantor.
