Job summary

Geisinger seeks a dedicated Financial Counselor for patient billing across admissions, surgeries, and outpatient services. You will interview patients, explain coverage options, and arrange payment plans to support timely, accurate collections.

You'll collaborate with clinical teams to resolve financial questions, verify eligibility for Medicaid and other sources, and ensure compliance with billing policies while delivering compassionate service to patients and families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years related work experience required.
• Strong communication and financial counseling skills.

Responsibilities

• Counsel patients on financial responsibilities for admissions, surgeries, and outpatient services.
• Coordinate patient billing and collections at POS or prior to services.
• Explain Medicaid and other funding sources as appropriate.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to resolve financial questions and ensure compliant billing.
