Job summary

UPMC Mercy Health Center is seeking a full-time Patient Service Representative (Float) to support multiple Complete Primary Care teams in Pittsburgh. The role focuses on warm patient reception, efficient check-in, and guiding patients to use MyUPMC tools.

You will collect copays, verify insurance, schedule follow-ups, and connect patients with financial advocacy as needed. This float position requires travel among five offices; no weekends.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to handle payments accurately.
• Willingness to travel between offices as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm greeting for all patients.
• Guide patient through use of self-arrival technology or check-in at desk depending on patient preference.
• Collect copayments and any other applicable patient payments at the point of service.
• Confirm and/or update patient registration information at checkout and schedule follow-up appointments.
• Provide follow-up to unresolved patient questions or needs to ensure continuity of care.
• Understand service recovery principles and take appropriate actions to meet the UPMC Experience.
• Promote MyUPMC patient portal and assist patients in registration when applicable
• Confirm/verify insurance benefits with the appropriate carrier via online verification systems or telephone inquiries.
• Obtain signature of patient or family member for consent to treatment and financial responsibility under HIPAA rules.
• Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors
• Performs other duties as assigned.
