Job summary

The Valley Hospital in Paramus, NJ is seeking a Dietary Aide to enter patient selections in the CBORD Diet Office System, assist patients with meals, and explain diet information to patients and families. You will serve as a liaison with the Department of Food & Nutrition, deliver trays and nourishments, and stock nursing unit pantries.

Required: high school diploma, basic computer skills, and at least 1 year in hospital food service or healthcare.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills.
• One year of dietary aide experience in a hospital food service or healthcare setting.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Good communication skills and customer service orientation.
• Ability to interact with patients and families and focus on service.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient selections in the hand held computer per diet orders.
• Assist patients in meal selection and explain basic diet information.
• Serve as liaison between patients and the Department of Food & Nutrition.
• Provide tray delivery and nourishments to patients.
• Stock food supplies for nursing unit pantries.
• Handle and resolve meal service issues.
