Job summary

Hartford HealthCare’s St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport is seeking a Dietary Aide to handle patient food service on assigned units. Roles include menu selection, tray assembly, delivery and pickup, and stocking patient areas, while accommodating dietary restrictions and patient preferences.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and speak English.
• 2 years of customer service preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for patient food service on assigned units including menu selections, tray assembly, tray delivery and pick up, stocking patients units where needed, and fulfills special requests.
• Takes patients menu selections prior to meal service while complying with dietary restrictions on special, modified diets to ensure optimal food preferences are met within guidelines of diet order limitations.
• Offers alternatives to menu as allowed on prescribed diet in accordance with food allergies and sensitivities, cultural, ethnic and religious preferences.
• Interacts with Nursing to ensure patients’ diet prescriptions are accurate, and patients’ food needs are met.
• After trays are passed, completes rounding to check on patients and address any additional needs.
