Qualifications

• Must be able to read and speak English
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; compute ratio and percent
• Operate hospital ADT and other computer-based systems that manage patient-care records
• Ability to handle problems with several concrete variables in standardized situations
• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• 2 years of customer service preferred

Responsibilities

• Responsible for patient food service on assigned units including menu selections, tray assembly, tray delivery and pick up.
• Stocking patients units and fulfilling special requests between meals.
• Takes patients menu selections prior to meal service while complying with dietary restrictions.
• Offers alternatives to menu within prescribed diets and patient preferences.
• Interacts with Nursing to ensure diet prescriptions are accurate and needs are met.
• Completes rounds after trays are passed and retrieves trays when meals are finished.
• May assist dietitian with monitoring patients on NPO or calorie counts.
• Communicates any patient-related problems to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Participates in departmental meetings and staff development programs.
