Job description

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. They ensure documentation and patient records are prepared and organized, and that patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Greeting and assisting patients, customers, and visitors in person and over the phone.
  2. Performing patient registration in various systems.
  3. Answering all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  4. Collecting monies for time-of-service patient responsibility, if applicable.
  5. Verifying insurance coverage and obtaining prior authorization, if necessary.
  6. Performing preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, including medical history review, if required.
  7. Transporting patients to/from the exam room.
  8. Assisting in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
  9. Providing preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
  10. Maintaining a clean and organized work area and ordering supplies as needed.
  11. Ensuring accuracy of patient records and documentation, including scheduling and insurance verification.
  12. Preparing medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.
  13. Documenting patient visits accurately in electronic systems and on written documents.
  14. Assisting clinical staff with documentation and image delivery.
  15. Performing all duties in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  16. Performing other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR Certification required prior to hire for Mobile Radiology and Oncology; CPR certification is a plus for Fixed Radiology.
  • Valid state driver’s license required, as applicable.
  • Ability to work at multiple locations and travel locally.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six months of customer service or related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Exposed to outside weather conditions during patient transport on mobile units.
  • May be exposed to magnetic fields, radioactive materials, blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, noise, and travel.
  • More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk; repetitive movements; communicate effectively.
  • Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, lift/move non-ambulatory patients.
