Job summary

Northeast Radiology, an Akumin Company, is hiring a Patient Coordinator for our Danbury, Brookfield and Mt Kisco locations. This full-time role supports patient registration, insurance verification, and appointment coordination to ensure a positive patient experience.

CPR certification is required for mobile roles; bilingual Spanish is a plus. You will assist with patient transport, documentation, and HIPAA compliance across multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR certification for Mobile Radiology/Oncology positions; CPR a plus for Fixed Radiology.
  • Valid state driver’s license and ability to travel between sites.
  • Strong customer service, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and assist customers in person and over the phone.
  • Register patients in various systems and verify insurance.
  • Communicate appointment expectations and post-procedure instructions.
  • May collect patient payments and transport patients as needed.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and document patient interactions.

We are currently hiring for a Patient Coordinator at our Danbury, Brookfield and Mt Kisco facilities. This will be a full time position.

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Ensures documentation and patient records are prepared and organized. Ensures patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment. Bilingual Spanish speaking strongly preferred.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
  • Will perform patient registration in various systems.
  • Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  • May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
  • May be responsible for verifying insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
  • Patient Assistance: May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, which may include medical history.
  • May transport patient to/from the exam room.
  • May assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
  • May transport patient to/from the exam room.
  • May provide the patient with preliminary and post-procedure instructions.
  • Work Area & Supply Preparation In the mobile setting, may assist in preparing the unit for transport.
  • Will maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • May order supplies and ensure the work area is properly stocked.
  • Documentation Will ensure accuracy of patient records.
  • May schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification and/or authorization.
  • May prepare medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of patient visits in various electronic systems and on written documents.
  • May assist the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer.
  • Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • For Mobile Radiology and Oncology, CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire.
  • For Fixed Radiology, CPR Certification is a plus.
  • As applicable, valid state driver's license required.
  • Ability to work at several locations required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.
  • The COVID-19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.
  • Preferred Six months customer service or related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Eligibility for benefits will vary based on role type and hours worked.

The estimated hourly pay range for this role in New York is $18-23/hr. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, location, and other factors such as internal equity and budget.
