Job summary

Elite Sports Medicine + Orthopedics is seeking a Patient Collections Specialist to support patients with outstanding balances and billing questions. The role starts in-person at 2004 Hayes Street, Nashville, TN and transitions to fully remote after training, with a requirement to reside in Tennessee.

You will post payments, manage collections workflows, negotiate payment plans, and maintain accurate account documentation using the practice management system.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college/trade school preferred.
  • Experience in physician office or hospital billing preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Contact patients with outstanding balances and post payments in the practice management system.
  • Review incoming documents and route to the appropriate team member.
  • Submit refund requests and manage delinquent accounts for referral when needed.
  • Explain bills and payment options; negotiate payment plans.
  • Maintain accurate account documentation and respond to billing inquiries.

Job description

Are you an organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys helping people and providing excellent customer service? Do you have experience with medical billing, patient accounts, or collections?Elite Sports Medicine + Orthopedics is looking for a Patient Collections Specialist to join our team! This role is an important part of helping our patients navigate their billing questions while ensuring accounts are handled accurately, professionally, and with compassion. This position is in person at our 2004 Hayes Street location but after training this posiiton is FULLY- REMOTE. You must live in the state of TN to apply for this position.MINIMUM ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTSDaily ResponsibilitiesContact patients with outstanding balances and send communications per protocolPost patient payments into the practice management systemReview incoming fax correspondence and route to the appropriate team memberSubmit refund requests as neededEvaluate delinquent patient accounts for referral to third-party collection agenciesUtilize the Collection Module to track activity and communication with patients and to establish payment plans within pre-approved guidelinesAnswer and manage calls from the call queueAssist patients with billing inquiriesTransfer calls to insurance collection specialists as appropriateCommunicate patient questions and requests to billing department personnelPromote the company website and patient resources located there by communicating to patients that they can pay their bill onlineComplete other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma required; college or trade school education preferredPrevious experience working in a physician office or hospital billing role preferredProficiency in using multi-line phone systemAbility to communicate financial obligations, negotiate payment plans and follow up to ensure timely resolution of accountsComfortable using email and working with various software applicationsStrong multitasking skills and ability to manage repetitive tasks with accuracyFamiliarity with billing and collection practicesKnowledge of CPT and ICD-1O CM coding for orthopedic surgeryProficient in MS Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and OutlookExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with thorough account documentationGoal-oriented and strong attention to detailsGeneral understanding of Explanation of Benefits, claim forms and the insurance billing processWe are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
