Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Medical Scheduler to support staff and physicians by arranging follow-up appointments and tests for patients. This role involves direct patient interaction and coordination with multiple hospital systems.

The Scheduler will manage pre-certifications, coordinate procedures (e.g., cardiology, electrophysiology), and provide clear instructions to patients. HIPAA privacy and confidentiality are essential in daily duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/Equivalent is required.
• Two years scheduling experience in a multi-specialty clinic is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule follow up/return visits for patients.
• Obtain pre-certification and pre-authorizations as needed.
• Schedule medical tests and procedures.
• Explain procedure instructions to patients so they understand expectations.
• Call patients to schedule procedures and send follow-up instruction letters.
• Use Allscripts, Centricity Business, and online paging systems to retrieve information.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
