Job summary

Avera Health in Alabama is seeking a detail‑oriented Records Release Specialist to manage the release of information workflow. You will process ROI requests, verify records, and ensure accurate dissemination of health records using HIM systems.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, handling inquiries, and coordinating with patients, physicians, insurers, and attorneys while upholding HIPAA and confidentiality standards. A strong customer service mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in health information management or healthcare department experience.
• Ability to work the hours specified and communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Process ROI requests: verify completeness, identify records, and track requests.
• Fulfill requests by recording ROI authorization and handling records/media and fees.
• Greet and assist patients, staff, and others in the HIM area.
• Answer, route, and manage phone calls and voicemails.
• Interact with patients, physicians, insurers, attorneys, and external reviewers and stakeholders.
• Maintain productivity and quality in handling patient requests for medical records.
• Adhere to HIPAA and other applicable state/federal laws.
