Job summary

UnitedHealthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant for Primary Care Plus in Westwego, LA. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing patient care, education and self-management support in a primary care setting.

Responsibilities include triaging calls, preparing the EMR, and coordinating care with physicians, nurses, and other team members. The role requires a CPR/AED certification and clinic experience, with OSHA/HIPAA knowledge prioritized.

Qualifications

• Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• 1+ years of clinic experience or related experience in a medical setting.
• Knowledge of OSHA/HIPAA compliance.
• EMR training as a preferred qualification.

Responsibilities

• Addresses the total patient, inclusive of medical, psychosocial, behavioral, cultural, and spiritual needs.
• Involves the individual patient and caregiver, as appropriate, in decision making.
• Facilitates communication and coordination among members of the care team.
• Provides patient care including assessment prior to physician/nurse practitioner examination and assists with procedures.
• Escorts patient to exam room and prepares EMR for visit.
• Triages phone calls and documents Telephone Encounters in EMR.
• Maintains cleanliness and stocking of exam rooms.
• Assists with ordering and receiving medical supplies and medications.
• Supports clinic processes with Clinic Manager and Quality Manager.
• Keeps competency in clinical skills and completes required education.
