Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide high quality, direct patient care in a team-based setting. You will support administrative and clinical operations, manage vitals, EKGs, phlebotomy, immunizations, and vaccine administration under supervision.

The role emphasizes population health activities, accurate documentation in the EHR, and coordination of tests and referrals to ensure smooth patient flow and safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's in Health Science preferred.
• License MA certificate preferred, or CNA or EMT or Phlebotomy certificate.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Basic computer familiarity; able to navigate web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Develops empathetic relationships with patients, families and colleagues to support patient care.
• Assists during visits: manages flow, communicates delays, updates medication and allergy lists.
• Communicates clearly with patient and team; hands off to provider with visit details.
• Performs MA duties under supervision: vitals, EKGs, point of care testing, phlebotomy, vaccines (certified MAs).
• Leads population health outreach and basic health coaching.
• Maintains equipment, sterilization, inventory, and safe patient access.
• Uses EHR to queue renewals, enter orders and document visit activities for billing.
• Schedules diagnostic/tests; verifies insurance and referrals.
