Job summary

IU Health is hiring for a unit secretary role combining direct patient care with clerical duties in a hospital setting. You will support the patient care team and help maintain a safe, clean environment on the unit.

Responsibilities include assisting physicians, scheduling tests, managing records, and providing information to families and vendors. CPR may be required and training is provided for unit secretary duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training.
• Requires knowledge of medical terminology.
• Requires basic computer skills.
• Requires basic knowledge of infection control.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and unit clerical duties.
• Administers care to designated patients under the Clinical Nurse guidance.
• Provides information, directions and assistance to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• Schedules tests and procedures; maintains patient records; signs patients in/out.
• Orders, receives and delivers equipment and supplies for the care team.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
