Job summary

Indiana University Health System in Indiana seeks a unit secretary/patient care associate to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse. You will support the patient care team and help maintain a clean, orderly environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with tests and procedures, maintaining patient records, signing patients in and out, handling equipment and supplies, and potentially providing continuous observation including suicide prevention.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Requires prior acute patient care experience or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of infection control.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse and supports the patient care team.
• Ensures a clean and orderly environment for the patient and assists with information for physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May schedule tests and procedures for the patient and maintain patient records; sign patients in and out of the unit.
• May be responsible for ordering, receiving and delivering equipment and supplies for the patient care team.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
