Job summary

IU Health Paoli is seeking a patient care associate to provide direct patient care and unit clerical support within the department. You will assist the clinical team, ensure a clean environment, and help schedule tests or sign patients in and out of the unit.

The role requires basic medical terminology knowledge, accurate record-keeping, and basic computer skills, with CPR often required and BLS certification possible through the IU Health PCA program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; CPR may be required.
• Requires acute patient care experience or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA program; other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department.
• Requires basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Requires knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Requires knowledge of infection control principles and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides a combination of direct patient care and unit clerical duties for the department.
• Administers care to designated patients under the direction of a Clinical Nurse and supports the patient care team.
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment for the patient and provides information and directions to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May schedule tests and procedures for the patient, maintain patient records and sign patients in and out of the unit.
• May be responsible for ordering, receiving and delivering equipment and supplies for the patient care team.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
