Job summary

IU Health in Lafayette, IN seeks a Unit Secretary/Patient Care Assistant to provide a blend of patient care and clerical support on the unit. You will assist clinicians, schedule tests, maintain patient records, and help with admissions and discharges while ensuring a clean, organized environment.

This role requires a high school diploma, CPR certification, basic computer skills, and knowledge of medical terminology. Weekend/holiday rotations and full-time commitment are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR may be required to complete unit secretary training.
• Requires basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide a combination of direct patient care and unit clerical duties under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Assist with scheduling tests and procedures for the unit and maintain patient records.
• Sign patients in and out and assist with admission/ discharge processes.
• Order, receive and deliver equipment and supplies for the patient care team.
• Provide continuous observation including suicide prevention when required.
