Job summary

Carle Health in Illinois seeks a Health Care Technician (HCT) to support licensed nursing staff under the direction of an RN. You will assist with personal care and hygiene for an assigned patient group and act as a liaison among departments, visitors, patients, and medical staff.

Works under the direct supervision of the nursing manager. You will collect data, document accurately, perform listed psychomotor skills, assist with activities of daily living, and help transport patients.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• CNA certification; minimum one semester of nursing clinical experience.
• Successful completion of HCT in-training program.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the maintenance of unit supplies to ensure smooth unit function, including stocking nurse servers, cleaning instruments and equipment, ordering supplies, and making up charts.
• Collects data on assigned patients as directed by RN and ensures accurate documentation.
• Demonstrates competency in vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and measuring and recording intake and output.
• Performs or assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Prepares patients for transportation and/or transport.
• Assist RN with patient care as delegated (vital signs, blood glucose, bathing, repositioning, walking patients).
• Hourly rounds on patients.
• Maintain clean and tidy work environment.
• Organize and maintain medical and office supplies.
• Maintain CVICU based competencies (sheath pulls, arterial line removal).
• Proactively seek out opportunities to assist internal and external customers.
