Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple, TX is seeking a Patient Care Technician / Health Unit Coordinator to provide clerical support and hands-on patient care under licensed nursing supervision.

The role includes recording patient data, monitoring vitals, assisting with daily living activities, transporting supplies and patients, and maintaining accurate records to support the care team.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Must maintain patient confidentiality.
• Ability to relate positively with patients, families and staff at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Collects and records patient data and reports information to nursing personnel in a timely fashion.
• Obtains and records patient vital signs, height, weight and intake/output; performs finger-stick glucose if required.
• Performs routine urinary catheter care.
• Collects and transports specimens as requested.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and linen changes as appropriate.
• Answers patient call lights and responds promptly to requests.
• May serve as a sitter for patients needing constant observation.
• Maintains unit and patient records and prepares admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Keeps work area organized; maintains records and reference documents.
• Updates facility boards and telemetry reconciliation per policy.
