Job summary

Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast in Destin, FL is seeking a Night Shift, Full-time Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities, mobility, and comfort, while coordinating with the clinical team to ensure timely interventions.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalency, and a BLS certification within 30 days of hire; 1 year of related experience is acceptable. Training and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable experience
• Licensure/certification can substitute education or experience when applicable
• Preference for patient care experience in acute care setting

Responsibilities

• Provide essential support with daily living activities and personal care to ensure patient comfort and dignity
• Assist with movement and positioning to support mobility and safety
• Observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to the clinical team for timely intervention
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms and ensure medical equipment is ready for use

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Champion patient dignity and comfort by providing essential support with daily living activities and personal care, ensuring every patient feels respected and well-cared for during their stay.
• Support patient mobility and safety by skillfully assisting with movement and positioning, reducing the risk of injury and promoting a faster recovery process.
• Serve as a vital link to the clinical team by observing and immediately reporting changes in a patient’s physical or emotional condition, ensuring the nursing staff has the real-time data needed for quick intervention.
• Maintain a healing environment by ensuring patient rooms are clean and orderly and medical equipment is ready for use, creating a professional and stress-free space for recovery.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
