Qualifications

• One year of health care experience preferred.
• BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs and monitor patient conditions.
• Assist with daily personal care (bathing, grooming, mobility).
• Assist with admissions and discharge processes under supervision of a nurse.
• Perform blood draws as assigned and assist with specimen collection.
• Provide foley care and maintain patient safety and comfort.
• Report any changes in patient status to the supervising nurse.

This position will work in various units at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.As a Patient Care Technician with Sentara, you will have the opportunity to learn many new skills. From taking vitals to blood draws and daily care. The primary duties of this position include supporting the admission/discharge process, changing, bathing ambulating patients, drawing blood, foley catheter care, meeting patient needs while working under the direct supervision of a nurse. You will find that teamwork is exceptional, with everyone working together to provide the best care for our patients.Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse.
