Job summary

Grandview Medical Center - Birmingham, AL is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support nursing staff with activities of daily living, vital signs, and mobility assistance, while ensuring a safe and compassionate patient environment.

Under supervision of an RN/LPN, the PCT will document data, assist with meals and hygiene, and communicate patient information to the care team, maintaining infection-control protocols and professionalism.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of acute care experience or currently enrolled in a nursing program.
• BCLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• CPCT or CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with basic patient care and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Record vital signs and intake/output, report to RN/LPN.
• Assist with meals, bathing, grooming, mobility, and catheter care.
• Position and ambulate patients using mobility aids.
• Collect urine/stool samples and perform finger-stick glucose.
• Communicate patient information to the care team.
• Follow infection-control and PPE protocols.
• Participate in performance improvement and risk management.
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with policies.
