Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support Registered Nurses in both direct and indirect patient care across units in Chicago. You will perform phlebotomy, monitor vital signs, assist with admissions, discharges, and routine procedures, and help with newborn care as needed.

Qualified candidates hold a CNA certification or are currently in nursing school, with BLS CPR. A high school diploma plus healthcare experience is preferred, and benefits include tuition

Qualifications

• CNA Certification or currently enrolled in School of Nursing with basic clinical rotations completed.
• CPR recognition by the American Heart Association (BLS).
• Minimum of 90% on annual mandatory Health and Safety Training quizzes.
• Unit based recognition for Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring.
• High school diploma required; one year of college or nursing education or equivalent preferred.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support the Registered Nurse in direct and indirect patient care.
• Direct patient care activities including admissions, vital signs, glucose monitoring and phlebotomy.
• Assist with pre- and post-operative care and patient transfers.
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and ensure safety.
• Maintain a safe, clean patient environment.
