Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Progressive Care Unit at Fairfield Hospital. The role supports nurses with basic patient care, monitors vital signs, and assists with daily activities to promote patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications

• BLS Basic Life Support preferred; must obtain prior to direct patient care.
• Completion of nursing aide training program OR STNA OR CNA OR Nursing program with clinical courses OR 1 year of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including comfort, hygiene, and mobility assistance.
• Report changes to nurse and communicate with patients, families, and staff.
• Deliver accurate documentation of patient care where applicable.
• Participate in hand-off/report of patient and department needs upon arrival and departure.
• Assist with transfers using safe techniques to promote independence.
• Support patient independence and tailor care to individual interests.
• Attend to basic patient needs and ensure a clean, safe environment.
