Job summary

Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA seeks a full-time Patient Care Technician for the Med/Surg Telemetry Unit (Days, 7A–7P). You will provide direct patient care, support ADLs, monitor vitals, and assist with mobility under RN supervision.

Required HS Diploma or equivalent and BLS within 90 days. Eligible candidates may hold CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or similar certifications; one year of related healthcare experience is preferred. Sentara offers comprehensive benefits and a competitive base pay.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• One of the following certifications is required: CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, US Navy Hospital Corps School, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and document changes.
• Assist with mobility and ambulation of patients.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection.
• Perform EKG testing and Foley catheter insertion/removal as directed by RN.

City/StateSuffolk, VAWork ShiftFirst (Days)Overview:Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Med/Surg Telemetry Unit - F/T Days 7A - 7PThe Patient Care Technician provides patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.EducationHS Diploma or Equivalent (Required)Certification/LicensureBasic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire.One of the following is required:Graduate of Sentara Care Partner Certification ProgramSuccessful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant CNANational Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps SchoolEmergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic,Current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT)Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.ExperienceOne-year related healthcare experience (Required)We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly.
