Job summary

Hillcrest HealthCare System seeks a Day Shift, full-time Patient Care Technician (PCT) in Tulsa, OK. The role supports RN staff with patient care and clerical duties on a fast-paced unit.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and BLS within 14 days of hire. Preferred CNA/PCT certification or nursing school enrollment, and 2 years of acute or long-term care experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer.
• Preferred: CNA/PCT or paramedic certification or current nursing school enrollment.
• Two years of experience in acute or long-term care preferred.
• Phlebotomy proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform CNA duties and clerical tasks under RN/dunit manager.
• Assist with patient care tasks: vital signs, transporting patients, meal trays, hygiene care.
• Assist in reception duties, room assignments, and chart retrieval; stock and monitor supplies.
• Maintain unit cleanliness and organized nursing stations.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

• Perform CNA duties as well as clerical duties under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) and the unit manager
• Assist with patient care tasks such as obtaining vital signs, assists in transporting patients, pass meal trays, deliver hygiene care and answers inquiries within the scope of practice
• Assist nursing staff by receiving patients at the desk, taking the patient to appropriate room, gives initial instruction; assist in transporting discharged patients and answer inquiries within the scope of practice
• May act as the unit’s receptionist, assign patient to room on board, alert nursing staff to patient arrival, pull and prepare chart; order and monitor utilization of selected supplies: office, nutritional supplements, forms and retrieval chart back; assist with stocking supplies that are needed in the unit as well as assist in keeping the nursing stations clean and organized .

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.
• Two (2) years of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
