Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our clinical team in Neptune City, New Jersey. Under RN supervision, you will provide direct and indirect patient care, support safety, comfort, and satisfaction, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary health care team.

The role emphasizes learning, teamwork, and initiative, with requirements including a high school diploma or GED, completion of a PCT/CNA/MA program or equivalent, and BLS certification within 60 days.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of one of the following: CNA, Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician program or equivalent medical background experience.
• Ability to learn quickly, strong teamwork, and patient-focused care.
• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of entering position.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care, based on physical, psychosocial, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the guests/patients served in assigned service.
• Provide for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions.
• Ongoing communication with patients, nursing colleagues and other members of the health care team regarding patient's status and rendered care.
• Take initiative to do more than is expected, improving job performance, and/or creating new opportunities.
• Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning and continuum of care.
• Participate in Unit/Department PI activities.
