Profile

PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Supports FMCNA’s mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including all regulatory and FMS policy requirements. Functions as part of the hemodialysis healthcare team, providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse, following FMCNA policies, procedures, training, and regulations set by authorities. Responsible for setting up and operating hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting quality improvement activities to meet FMCNA's goals.

DUTIES / ACTIVITIES
CUSTOMER SERVICE

Drive FMS culture through values and customer service standards. Provide outstanding service to all customers, develop effective relationships through communication, and respond promptly to issues.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
PATIENT CARE
  • Assist healthcare team with patient education on dialysis measures, access, and disease process.
  • Greet patients, monitor well-being, and report concerns.
  • Evaluate vascular access, obtain vital signs, and assist with cannulation.
  • Administer Heparin as delegated, initiate dialysis, and monitor response.
  • Record treatment data, evaluate patient status, and report abnormalities.
  • Discontinue treatment following procedures, assess patient, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Perform and record pre/post dialysis evaluations, weight, and vital signs.
  • Calculate and program dialysis machine parameters as prescribed.
  • Ensure safety alarms are active, and document treatment details accurately.
  • Maintain vascular access and laboratory specimen collection as required.
MAINTENANCE / TECHNICAL
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of treatment environment.
  • Disinfect equipment, prepare for treatments, and conduct alarm testing.
  • Handle spills and organize supplies efficiently.
CLERICAL & ADMINISTRATIVE
  • Participate in CQI activities, document treatment data, and review treatment sheets.
  • Prepare charts, lab requisitions, and handle specimen collection and storage.
OTHER

Perform additional duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL FOR HOME PROGRAMS

Assist with home visits, patient education, supply management, and home dialysis setup under supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK CONDITIONS

Includes desk work, patient interaction, travel, and physical activities like lifting up to 40 lbs. Reasonable accommodations available. Must pass Ishihara’s Color Blindness test. Work environment is healthcare setting with exposure to infectious materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or G.E.D., certification as per state or CMS requirements, and relevant experience preferred. Successful completion of dialysis training and CPR certification required.
