UAB Medicine, Alabama’s largest health system, seeks a Full-time Patient Care Assistant at UAB St. Vincent's East to support clinical and non-clinical patient care under supervision.

You will assist with ambulation, activities of daily living, and basic procedures, while reporting changes to nursing staff and maintaining clean patient rooms. BLS certification within 30 days of hire is required, along with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Formación

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsabilidades

• Assist patients with ambulation and movement to rooms or vehicles.
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff and document necessary records.
• Keep patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintain medical equipment.
• Perform technical patient care duties such as oxygen setup, Foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

BLS Provider

High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable experience

Job Description

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.

• Assist patients with ambulation as necessary. This may include helping them to a recliner in their
  room, walk to the bathroom or down the hall. Assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their
  vehicles.
• Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  Documents necessary records.
• Keeps patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintains medical equipment.
• Performs certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such as
  oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
