Job summary

UAB Medicine seeks a dedicated healthcare professional for full-time night shift in the MICU Stepdown department at UAB St. Vincent's East, Trussville, AL.

You will perform basic patient care under supervision, assist with mobility and daily activities, and help ensure patient comfort and safety during 7pm-7am shifts. Responsibilities include vitals, specimen collection, EKGs, and documentation, with tasks expanding to oxygen setup and catheter care as directed by the nursing team.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
• Assist patients with ambulation and personal care, and help dismissed patients to vehicles.
• Record vitals, weight, inputs/outputs; report changes to nursing staff.
• Maintain clean, orderly patient rooms and equipment; assist with oxygen setup, catheter care, pulse oximetry, specimens, and EKGs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.

• Assist patients with ambulation as necessary. This may include helping them to a recliner in their room, walk to the bathroom or down the hall. Assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their vehicles.
• Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Documents necessary records.
• Keeps patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintains medical equipment.
• Performs certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such as oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
