Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the 3 West Ortho/Joint Unit. This part-time day shift (approximately 7am–7pm) position supports independent mobility and postoperative care on a 12-bed unit.

Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, you will assist with patient care, admissions/discharges, and monitor patient status, with opportunities for career advancement within Sentara Health.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• One of the listed certifications or completion of related programs is required.

Approximately 7am to 7pmDepartment/Position Overview:3 West Ortho is a 12-bed unit that accommodates a variety of post operative surgical procedures including total hip, knees, shoulders, ankles & spine. Being that most of our patients are admitted via elective procedure it makes the patient population a joy as they are often very thankful for our staff & have an anticipated plan of care managing pain, physical therapy & monitoring post operative complications. We enforce more independence by promoting mobility which decreases the amount of total care patients we have which is also a bonus for our small unit.Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse.
