Mercy is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support nursing staff in delivering patient-centered care. Under the direction of the RN or LPN, you will assist in individualized care, perform designated clinical procedures, and handle non-clinical tasks essential to patient well-being.

Mercy emphasizes teamwork, training, and safety. The role requires a high school diploma (or GED), certification readiness (BLS within one month, PCA competencies within 3 months), and physical stamina to lift

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPTC, or enrolled in a healthcare career program; must be 18 and able to participate in Mercy's UAP training program; or a current Mercy coworker.
• Licensure:
• Experience: None required.
• In the state of practice: Mercy provides a 175-hour training program during new hire orientation; must complete within 90 days to remain in PCA role.
• Certifications: BLS required within one month of hire; PCA competencies within 3 months of hire.
• Other: Minimum Physical Requirements; ability to push/pull/lift 50 pounds; prolonged standing and walking; ability to reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat.

Responsibilities

• Assist in individualized patient care under the direction of the RN or LPN.
• Perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care.
• Work cooperatively with others as part of a team to achieve group goals.
