Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Patient Care Technician I (Non-Exempt) to provide direct patient care under RN supervision. You will assist with monitoring, daily living activities, and maintaining a safe environment in a busy hospital unit.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, specimen handling where trained, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 800 hours of patient care experience.
• Able to read, write, and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
• Maintain constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
• Assist patient with daily living activities and mobility.
• Take and record vital signs and other measurements.
• Assist RN/IP with treatments and prepare equipment and supplies.
• Maintain patient safety and follow restraints policy when caring for restrained patients.
