Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Natrona Heights, PA seeks a patient Care Assistant to support direct patient care on the inpatient unit under RN supervision. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vitals, collect specimens, and help coordinate admissions, discharges and transfers.

A High School diploma is required; nursing student enrollment preferred. Proficiency in phlebotomy and straight catheterization is expected, along with basic computer skills and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School/GED required.
• Experience as a PCA, PCT, NA, LPN, EMT, or similar role (1 year in inpatient care).
• Enrollment in an Associate's in Nursing or Bachelor's in Nursing (Junior year) program.
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficient in phlebotomy and straight catheterization.

Responsibilities

• Provide and document direct patient care including vital signs, activities of daily living, and specimen collection.
• Promote safety and quality initiatives (bedside shift report, hourly rounding, hand washing, isolation protocols).
• Document vitals, weights, I&O, EKGs, and treatments; report changes to nursing staff.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers and unit coordination.
• Support RN in care of acutely ill patients and maintain patient/family environment.
