Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch seeks a Patient Care Regular Night Shift at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston, TX. This role provides basic technical assistance and supportive patient care across assigned areas.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, drawing blood, performing 12-lead EKG, POCT, assisting with hygiene, feeding, mobility, safety, and ensuring patient privacy and infection control.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Nurse Assistant program or Medical Assistant program or Medical Corpsman program or EMT program or UTMB Hospital Aide Training Program
• Two years of experience in a direct patient care environment or certified MA/PCT/CNA at time of hire
• Enrolled in a School of Nursing and completed first semester with clinical concepts or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports, and documents vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Obtains blood samples by venipuncture.
• Acquires 12 lead EKG.
• Performs and reports POCT.
• Assists with patient activities and care per plan of care.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality; ensures a clean, safe environment and proper aseptic technique.
• Assists with feeding, hygiene, mobility, safety, and patient requests for other hospital services.
