Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, TX is seeking a Patient Care Regular / Nurse Assistant to provide basic technical assistance and supportive patient care in assigned areas under the charge nurse.

Minimum qualifications include completion of listed nursing/medical programs, two years of direct patient care, or active enrollment in nursing school with clinical concepts; BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of one of the listed nursing/medical programs.
• Two years of direct patient care experience OR certified MA/PCT/CNA.
• Enrollment in a School of Nursing with first semester completed (clinical concepts).

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports, and documents vital signs, intake and output, and specimens.
• Obtains blood samples by venipuncture.
• Performs and reports POCT.
• Assists with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Maintains patient privacy and a safe, clean environment.
