Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a Patient Care Regular role on the night shift at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston, TX. The position supports basic patient care, vital signs, venipuncture, EKG, POCT, and daily activities under the charge nurse.

Qualifications include completion of an approved Nurse Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, or related program, with experience or enrollment in nursing school and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Completion of one of the listed programs or equivalent clinical experience.
• Currently enrolled in nursing or related training with clinical concepts.
• Certified nursing or patient care credentials accepted at hire.

Responsibilities

• Collects and documents vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Obtains blood samples by venipuncture and performs POCT as assigned.
• Assists with patient activities and daily care per the plan of care.
• Provides personal hygiene, feeding assistance, mobility support, and comfort measures.
• Maintains patient privacy, infection control, and a clean environment.
• Assists with safety, restraints, and patient-related safety precautions.
• Supports hospital services requests and contributes to patient welfare.
