Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Nursing Assistant to deliver direct patient care, assist with activities of daily living, and support the RN in caring for patients in stable condition.

You will participate in unit activities, ensure patient comfort, maintain medical records, and adhere to hospital policies with attention to safety and privacy. Weekend and night shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 weeks of training for limited experience.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• CPR – American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Preferred: Acute care experience within the last 3 years.
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program.
• Preference given to those enrolled in associate’s or bachelor’s degree nursing programs and completed at least one clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains, or performs direct patient care and activities such as ADLs, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake/output, meal consumption, height/weight, blood glucose testing, bladder scanning, transporting patients and records, O2 documentation, and early mobilization.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives such as bedside shift report, hourly rounding promoting safety, and maintaining a clean environment.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I/O, restraints, specimen collection, and all other treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activity such as supply stocking, equipment cleaning, checks and retrieval.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
