Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with unit coordination on an inpatient unit. You will support RNs in caring for stable patients and help maintain a safe, clean environment.

Responsibilities include documenting care, assisting with admissions and transfers, and participating in rounding and safety initiatives. Training will be provided, and CPR/clearances are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide, obtain or perform and document direct patient care activities (ADLs, vital signs, glucose monitoring, mobility, meals, I&O).
• Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives (bedside reports, hourly rounding, safety and hygiene).
• Document vitals, weights, I&O, medications and treatments; report changes to nursing staff.
• Assist with unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
