Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care and assist the Registered Nurse across inpatient units. You will help with activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, and patient transport while ensuring comfort and safety in a stable patient population.

The role requires the ability to follow hospital procedures, document care accurately, and participate in unit activities such as admissions, discharges, and transfers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be able to attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Preferred: Acute care experience within last 3 years.
• Preferred: Currently enrolled in an ASN or BSN program and completed at least one clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care and activities (ADLs, vitals, mobility, meals, specimen collection, I&O, glucose monitoring).
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and maintains a clean, safe environment.
• Documents vital signs, weights, I&O, and other treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Assists with unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning/ retrieval.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
