Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking Patient Care Technicians for the Surgical & Trauma Care Unit (3RC) within the Medical-Surgical Services Division. This full-time role supports nursing on a 48-bed unit focused on orthopedics, trauma and spine care in Iowa City.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Carries out medical asepsis when performing skills and tasks including phlebotomy, peripheral IV removal, and Foley catheter removal.
• Performs simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and assists with admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Directly provides for patients' personal hygiene and comfort and supports mobility and transport.
• Stock and supply patient rooms and nursing units and participate in nursing care conferences.
