Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the 5Telemetry unit at the Downtown Campus. This part-time role supports the nursing team in delivering patient care across in-patient and out-patient areas, under direct supervision.

Responsibilities include recording vital signs, assisting with procedures, and helping with admissions, transfers, and discharges while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Strong communication and basic nursing skills are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and health care staff.
• Knowledge of sanitation and infection control principles.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Ability to assist with basic nursing tasks and patient comfort.

Responsibilities

• Record and monitor vital signs (temp, pulse, resp, BP).
• Assist nursing staff with patient care in in-patient and out-patient areas.
• Support admission, transfers, and discharges.
• Provide for patient hygiene and comfort; help with mobility and feeding.
