Job summary

Columbus Regional Health in Columbus, IN is seeking a Patient Care Technician I as part of Nurses Resources. As a float pool member, you will move between units to help ensure staffing coverage and broaden clinical experience.

You work with a nurse to assist with daily living activities, answer call lights, and take vital signs, contributing to patient safety and comfort. The role includes a base hourly rate and eligibility for a comprehensive benefits program; BLS certification within 30 days

Qualifications

• Verifiable work experience is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire is required.
• CNA is encouraged but not required; CNAs may apply for PCT roles.

Responsibilities

What you need to know about this position:

• As a member of Nurses Resources (sometimes called the float pool), you are at the core of ensuring we have the nursing staff in the right place at the right to meet the needs of our inpatient units.
• You have the opportunity to "float" to units, giving you the chance to broaden your knowledge and experience.
• As a Patient Care Technician I, you play an important role in our patient's experience and safety—you are typically the first face a patient sees when he/she enters the unit and the face he/she sees most frequently.
• Working with a nurse, you engage with patients through multiple activities, including answering call lights and questions, providing assistance with daily living activities and taking vital signs.
• The base hourly rate for this position is $16.73. Individual compensation is determined for this position through years of directly relevant experience and does include shift differentials and premium pay as applicable. The hourly compensation is only a portion of the total rewards package and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
• ThedayStudent Flex position, 7:00AM-7:30PM,is not benefit eligible but is ideal for our current students who need flexibility with scheduling. Employees in this position are eligible for our Educational Sponsorship program in accordance with the qualifications of it's plan.

What is required for this position:

• Upon hire,you must have
  • Verifiable work experience.
  • Health care-related work experience is preferred.
• Within 30 days of hire you must have:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• While being a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is not required, we encourage CNAs to apply for our Patient Care Tech (PCT) positions.

(If you do not have it, CRH provides training and time to acquire certification after employment.)
